The current law is subject to change at any time and it is the discretion of the cruise line whether to allow or deny boarding. For this reason, Starr highly recommends traveling with a passport book. On the Alaska cruise some excursions require a passport since they travel into Canada. Also, in the event of an emergency, you would not be able to fly from a foreign port without a passport book.
